Gig Economy 101 – Understanding the Gig Economy
If you’ve decided to capitalize on your side hustle and become a gig economy worker or freelancer, or are thinking about it, this webinar is for you.
The gig economy—also called sharing economy or access economy—is an activity where people earn income outside a regular 9 to 5 job or provides an additional income stream. Often, it’s through a digital platform like an app or website.
Getting started as a gig worker can get a little more complicated than you might think because there are potentially licenses, taxes, and insurances you need to consider.
Gig Economy can include activities such as
- Property rental
- Running errands or completing tasks
- Driver with Uber, Lyft, or a similar service
- Renting equipment
- Providing creative or professional services
- Providing other temporary, on-demand or freelance work
This webinar is designed to give an overview of factors Gig Economy workers should consider – among those considerations are financial, tax, legal and insurance.
Funding provided by the Washington State Microenterprise Association (WSMA) thanks to a grant made by the Washington State Department of Commerce.
