Director of Development

Position Summary

The Director of Development is responsible for leading the Development Team and directing fundraising at Business Impact NW. This position includes overseeing major giving, public and foundation grants, sponsorships, corporate giving, and fundraising campaigns. Heading the Development Team within the External Affairs Department, this position works to financially sustain the programs and operations of Business Impact NW - a nonprofit dedicated to growing small businesses that create jobs in underserved communities. This position reports to the Chief Eternal Affairs Officer (CXO).

Controller

Position Summary

Reporting to the COO, the Controller accepts accountability for maintaining internal controls and compliance with financial and grant reporting. The Controller oversees expense management, proper revenue recognition, and supervises proper entry of financial transactions. This position is part of a team, and works closely with our Loan Accountant, Grants Accountant, Grant Project Managers, Development Team, and the COO.

Boots to Business Trainer and Business Coach

Position Summary

The primary responsibility of this position will be coordination and delivery of the on-site and virtual training program for the Boots to Business program in Alaska. The Alaska team also covers several Coast
Guard installations in Alaska. For the position in Fairbanks, the primary area of coverage is at both Ft. Wainwright and Eielson Air Force Base. Boots to Business is a two-day entrepreneurial education and training program offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as part of the Department of Defense’s Transition Assistance Program (TAP). The curriculum continuum includes steps for evaluating business concepts, the foundational knowledge required to develop a business plan and information on SBA resources available to help access start-up capital and additional technical assistance.

The Boots to Business Trainer will be responsible for both on-site as well as virtual training of this program throughout the Region and in conjunction with other VBOCs on virtual platforms. Trainings are regularly scheduled throughout the year at Ft. Wainwright, Eielson AFB, and Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson (both military branches). The person in this position may also need to travel to other installations in Alaska, Washington, Idaho and/or Oregon on occasion to fill in for trainings and outreach. We anticipate 2-3 trainings a month and job candidates must be available for overnight travel to trainings outside the candidate’s home base.

Office Manager

Position Summary

The Office Manager position is an integral part of the Business Impact NW team. Key success factors for this role are excellent written, verbal, and comprehension English language proficiency, and stellar project management skills. The Office Manager position will directly contribute to the organization’s mission by supporting office-wide systems and personnel in clerical and organizational work; directly providing executive assistance to the CEO and COO; performing basic reception activities; and assisting the Chief Operating Officer on office-wide projects.
