About the Presenter:
For 14+ years, Melissa McGuinness has used her diverse talents to build bridges and break barriers. She has expertise in every aspect of business operations including planning and executing promotional events, coordinating with regulatory agencies, directing staff, and finding innovative solutions to persistent logistical problems.
During her tenure at Specialty Coffee Association, the world’s largest recognized authority in the specialty coffee industry, Melissa forged new partnerships between importers, coffee farmers, roasters, and cafes in the U.S. and in coffee-producing countries such as Colombia, Brazil, Ethiopia and Guatemala to name a few.
Under Melissa’s direction, the U.S. Coffee Championships grew to three times its original size. She succeeded in cutting pre-production costs, and worked to develop scholarships and expand volunteer opportunities to make the event more attractive, accessible, and inclusive.
Melissa is a first-generation American whose parents immigrated from Colombia. She has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Central and South America, and gained valuable insight into thoughts, feelings, and circumstances of people from diverse backgrounds.
Melissa is now using her analytical skills and resourcefulness to help TheWMarketplace develop strategies for becoming the premier platform where conscientious consumers can find and support businesses owned and operated by women, while also highlighting companies who value gender parity.
