Internships
Each year, Business Impact NW offers a limited number of internship opportunities to students and community members.
We are looking for inspired and passionate people, dedicated to participating in a non-profit, entrepreneurial culture that targets under-served demographics within our community. You will have opportunities to collaborate with out amazing team, and be granted access to all of our educational courses and seminars free of charge.
Ideal candidates include current or post-graduate students completing internship credit requirements, with a business, finance, accounting, marketing/communications, or administrative focus. Hours are flexible and depend upon the position applied for.
Portfolio Manager Internship
Works primarily with our lending team as a portfolio manager for our small business loans, focused on data entry, research, and utilizing strong organizational/technical skills.
Administrative Assistant Internship
Works with office staff to assist with clerical duties as well as the implementation of online programming and day-to-day tasks as assigned. Other opportunities may include compiling research to support our cause, updating our contact information with partner organizations, assisting with presentations, and digitizing our materials.
Marketing & Communications Internship
Works with Communications & Outreach Officer to assist with social media content creation, class calendar, annual brand awareness campaign, blog support, event assistance and various other marketing and fundraising-related tasks. Advanced English language skills preferred. Writing sample recommended.
Website Maintenance Internship
Helps us keep our website current, from posting our blogs, to adding our classes, to making changes to help our analytics. This could be a single internship or combined with an admin or marketing internship.
Accounting Admin Internship
As an accounting intern, work directly for our controller and staff accountant to help with administrative tasks such as filing and scanning as well as accounting projects including check requests, reconciliations, and reviewing/auditing documentation for the team.

Internship Application Process
Step 1: When you have selected the internship that you would like to apply for, submit resume and cover letter indicating your interest area and qualifications. For creative writing internship opportunities, please include a sample of your work - an article, essay, or creative piece that reflects your style as a writer. You may submit non-published or previously published content.
Step 2: If you are selected to move forward with our internship process, a member of our team will reach out to you within two weeks. You will be asked to interview, and if accepted, start date will be mutually agreed upon. Our in-person interviews take roughly thirty minutes.

Internships are not the only way you can support Business Impact NW. We are always in need of passionate and inspired volunteers to support our mission and our clients.

Qualifications & Policies for Volunteers & Interns
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have reliable transportation plan
- Must be able to lift 20 lbs
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and may be asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
- Volunteer may volunteer once, or on a recurring basis, as desired.
- Every effort will be made to ensure you are matched with your area of interest.
